pyrogallol 1% pet. HD480
Pyrogallol 1% pet. HD480 (HD,PC)
CAS#: 87-66-1
Pyrogallol is used as a photographic developer and as an etching agent to treat wood. It is also found in some tars. Pyrogallol was also used as a developing agent in black-and-white developers, but its use is largely historical except for special purpose applications. Pyrogallol is not likely to be used as a modern hair dye due to the suspected toxicity of the compound; however, it may still be found in some hair colorants and dyes of suturing materials and for oxygen absorption in gas analysis. It is reported to cross react with Resorcin.
